Journey to Handstand

Have you made the decision that YOU are never going to do a handstand? That you can’t, don’t know how, just aren’t built for it?

Do you look at other people who try them, or who seem to have “mastered” them, and put yourself in a completely different category?

Is a handstand something that intrigues you? Or could you care less?

Do you think to yourself, “I am not strong enough, young enough, athletic enough?”

Well guess what??? This workshop is for you!

Get ready to explore this posture in a way like never before. This workshop is more than just a posture workshop. This is an opportunity for us to learn from this idealized posture in a way that will help us grow our entire practice, as well as ourselves.

As we begin to explore what bubbles up to the surface when we think about, or attempt, a handstand, we will start applying radical self-love principles to the process of learning how to stand on our hands. This is where it gets fun and interesting!

Yoga means union. The postures show us all the places within ourselves where there is discord and judgment. This helps us to realign things so that they express our highest nature. And when we are coming from our highest nature, it’s amazing what is possible.

Come play with us. Explore your body with us. Learn more about what’s required to do a handstand. And, learn more about yourself, your strengths, and just how capable you really are! You can expect to re-enter the world feeling more ease, more flow, and more inspiration.

Kids Yoga + Art Camp

Celebrate New Year with bursts of colors!

Kids YOGA & ART Camp is the perfect activity for kids (ages 5-10) who love to move and create! This is YOGA and ART Kids Camp like no other! Give your child the gift of mindfulness, health, movement, creativity, and self-esteem building skills this season. Children will feel very welcomed in this non-competitive environment. In this two hours camp, children will learn about themselves and build confidence while having fun. They will discover how yoga can help them become more focused and calm in school, sports and other activities.

Campers will be adorned with kid-friendly 'yoga peace love' themed temporary tattoos of their choice as they arrive. We will paint inspirational banners to hang around the studio as we practice yoga, learn about breathing, play games, make art, have a dance party, and a sweet relaxation at the end of camp. Kids Camp is led by our guest teacher Sherie Sloane. Sherie is an experienced kids/family yoga teacher from Chicago, a Certified Yoga Alliance® Continuing Education Provider (YA-CEP) and professional visual artist. Sherie is also CPR and AED certified.

Fee includes all supplies and art materials that are age appropriate. Please provide a healthy nut-free snack and water for your child to bring. Extra water and fruits will be provided for the kids.

NOURISH

Join us for a full day of NOURISHMENT!

Nourish is a thoughtfully curated experience that is designed to nourish the body, mind, and soul. The morning will begin with an asana practice to release built up pressure and tension, finished with a guided meditation to fuel the mind. After practice, we will enjoy a freshly prepared adaptogenic lunch as a group. This food is made with medicinal herbs that help your body adapt to stress (made with love by Brianna Beard). Following lunch, Jessica Rigal will lead a discussion on the Yoga Sutras; more commonly known as guidelines on how to live a meaningful life. This magical day will be rounded out with a Yin Deep Stretch class guided by Amanda Steadman. To further enhance the Yin practice, Master Reiki practitioner Carol Zackman will energetically nourish each student with Reiki. The intention behind Nourish is to offer our bodies the love and nourishment it deserves, especially before diving into the busy rush of the holiday season.

While stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. The practice of yoga positions, called Asanas, creates a strong and light body. It can increase the range of motion in your joints, improve circulation, balance the nervous system and reduce stress. It is also a practice of awareness, because it calms and purifies the mind through focused breathing. The tools that we learn in yoga can be integrated in other areas of our life. We become calmer in challenging situations, and have a greater capacity to concentrate and be present.

If you have been curious about trying yoga, this class will be sure to prepare you and answer any questions you might have. Two teachers will be co leading the class to ensure each student feels encouraged. Taught by Amanda Peruzzi and Brie Beard, you will learn what to expect when you take a class, the different styles of yoga, an understanding of basic postures and how to modify. Questions are encouraged throughout the class, as this is a time for you to learn how to begin your own practice.

Sweet Escape Up The Wall

Sweet escape is back, this time, with a twist! We are still offering restorative yoga with the addition of essential oils to enhance the experience of this restful practice, except this time, we are adding the use of the wall as another element of support. Using a wall during this practice may offer more of a stretch in certain areas of your body that you may not normally feel in a restorative practice. Traditionally, there is no need to stretch in restorative yoga, as the intention is to REST. This extra edition will give you a deeper experience. This is an opportunity to take some time away from our to-do lists, families, responsibilities etc.. Adding the wall is just another tool to add to your belt, learning new ways to relax and taking time for yourself is an ongoing practice of self love and self care.
