Functional Movement Pop Up Class

This class will be a simple, but intricate review of the joints in the upper body, and looking at our own true mobility using principles of Functional Range Conditioning.

We will identify the true nature of movement in the shoulder, scapula, wrists and how that presents in our bodies with and without the compensations we may be subconsciously using.
We’ll use that information to then move through a practice that not only promotes self awareness within postures but truly allows for the freedom that comes from an advanced practice.

This class is for both beginners and advanced yogis that would like a fresh perspective on their true mobility and how it translates to their practice.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a relaxation practice intended to invite the practitioner deeper into their inner world. With verbal guidance, the body becomes increasingly more aware, yet simultaneously relaxed. This practice consists largely of guided body awareness, guided breath awareness and following of verbal instruction to withdraw the senses just enough to move into deeper state of consciousness. This practice will be paired with Restorative Yoga. Restorative yoga is a practice of comfort and support, no need to stretch in these yoga shapes.
The Session begins with light movement to prepare for restorative yoga shapes that are completely supported with props, with the only intention being to relax and enjoy. Half-way through the session, Ashleigh will begin the guided meditation/Yoga Nidra segment. You will be laying down for most of this practice which makes this practice perfect for anyone, no matter what your knowledge or skill level of yoga or meditation may be. The benefits of this practice are much like those of meditation alone, including but not limited to: steadies the heart rate, eases insomnia, decrease anxiety, reduce stress, heightened awareness, improved focus, mental clarity and enhanced creativity and improve chronic physical pain.

Pop Up Iyengar

Join Val for a 75 minute Pop Up class exploring the yoga tradition of Iyengar.

Iyengar Yoga places emphasis on accurate alignment and precision of execution. Poses are generally held longer as well, so that the effects of proper positioning can be more thoroughly understood. This class will focus on the strong foundation that is laid for effective yoga practice through proper understanding of the Standing poses.

Meet Val:

I took my first Iyengar Yoga class in December of 1986, in my home town in southern Indiana. Since I was a musician, my mother thought that yoga would help me improve my musical endeavors. (Which it did!) When I moved from home in 1990, I continued to practice in earnest, mostly on my own, referring to BKS Iyengar's Light on Yoga. In 2001, I was accepted into the 3 year teachers training program at the Iyengar Institute. I began teaching in 2002, and by January 2004 became a full time teacher in the Los Angeles area. In August of 2008, I moved to New York City, where I taught until April of 2019. I have studied with the Iyengars in Pune India, and many noteworthy teachers in the states as well.

Chakra Workshop

What are Chakras, where are they, how do they work, what do I do with them?  These are all excellent questions!  Join Saramaria to discover the answers to these questions!

Our bodies contain energy channels in which prana (or life force) can flow freely. Along this channel we have 7 main evergy wheels called chakras. When our chakras are open and balanced, we experience a happy and healthy life. Through lack of awareness, stress and unhealthy habits we can bring out bodies out of alignment which can lead to illness and depression.

In this workshop you will receive insight and information as well as a chakra activating yoga practice.  Come learn how each chakra affects specific areas of the body and different aspects of your life!

Kundalini with Live Music -A sound healing experience

In this special event we combine the technology and science of Kundalini with the healing experience of sound. As Brianna guides you through a yoga class to elevate the spirit (essentially a full body tune up), Roger Jaeger will play the guitar and the sitar, enhancing your connection to movement and breath.

What can I expect from the yoga practice?
The Kundalini Kriya for Elevation systematically exercises the spine, aids in the circulation of prana, opens the lungs, brings the hemispheres of the brain to a state of alertness, and consolidates the magnetic field.

Who is Roger Jaeger?
Roger Jaeger made his first trip to India in 2005. Enamored by the welcoming and nourishing culture and captivated by its music, the Oklahoma native made India his second home, where he honed his writing and music production craft and learned to play sitar proficiently. Roger developed a strong devotion and passion for India, its native people, and the arts. Settling in, he became a teacher at The University of The Nations in Lonavala, India where he teaches “Songwriting 101” one or two times annually. He will bring his knowledge and skills to this event with a thread of ancient sound to enhance your experience.

This course will guide you through a physical moving meditation as well as the first of four chapters in the defining text on Yoga. We will cover several sutras word by word, uncovering the essence of its message and profound optimistic view on cultivating clarity in mind, body, and spirit to reach your full potential.

Your daily yoga practice will grow in depth with this textual wisdom serving as a guiding light on your yogic journey. Deepen and develop your meditation practice as we experience different approaches to find the right one for you.

Although the Yoga Sutras may seem intangible and disconnected from your physical asana practice, Jessica has a gift for making the theoretical text relatable, practical, and digestible. You’ll be surprised by how much you already know about some of the Sutras
